Sun Easy Broadband - Closing Postpaid Account
Are you still one of those who still have a Sun Broadband Postpaid Account, who now wish to switch the account to Pre-paid, or close the account so you can move somewhere else, well read on. This post will be about closing a postpaid at Sun Broadband; this doesn't cover their mobile plans.
I applied in Sun Cellular's postpaid plan 899 broadband for unlimited internet last year, on which I would say my biggest mistake. I have nothing against to those who choose to enroll in Sun Broadband postpaid plans, but in the long run it didn't suit well for me.
It didn't help that when applied on their Easy Broadband, which only require 2 IDs at that time with 3 month holding period, where I paid around P 2,000 (with 5 free hours). I could have waited a month after, in which Sun offered the Easy Broadband postpaid unlimited for only P699 with no holding period. I really feel stupid.
But I would learn the hard lesson 6 months after when I decided to stop using Sun for my broadband needs, all I get was Sun Edge. I actually did not pay the last two months of their billing amounting to P1,800 in which they cut the line, which is understandable.
So what I did next for my internet was just buy a Smart Broadband Prepaid kit for P1250 (with free 10 days unlimited surfing). And it's something I realized that I would have done in the first place.
Two months into my use of Smartbro, I completely forgot about Sun, when I received Sun's billing. Here's the surprise, Sun is charging me for a month I didn't use, for P899 for a total of P2700 (including the two unpaid months).
Well, I knew I have to formally close or terminate Sun's postpaid account. I've read somewhere that they will actually send you a demand letter to pay or they will file a case, something like that.
I went to Sun shop's customer service to close the postpaid account. But to my shock, and in the words of their 'customer care' lady representative, "Your account is tagged for a year, the line is cut, but you will continually be billed and charged P899 a month."
This actually made me furious that I raised my voice. The reason I gave was that our business has closed with no more source of income. I actually have an Affidavit of Non Operation to show. What I really didn't like about their customer service is that, 'it felt they were still selling me the remaining four months of the postpaid account, even if I clearly pointed out that my account is an Easy Broadband. That means the three month holding has passed and there should be 'no more strings attached'.
After several minutes, their Customer care did oblige to close the account but only after I paid the last billing which is around P2,600.
I didn't have a choice though but to pay the amount a week after, since I always wanted to settle everything with no obligations, so I can avail again (if ever) of Sun plans, such as their mobile packages. It was actually a bitter pill to swallow that I paid a month of billing without using their internet.
Here's a tip or advice for those still under Sun Easy Broadband postpaid plan. If you're planning to stop using their services, settle their billing and formally ask to close your account.
